POSITION TITLE: Lecturer Pool – Doctorate in Educational Leadership
POSITION DETAILS:
The Doctorate in Educational Leadership Program is designed for working professionals and produces exemplary educational leaders for schools, community colleges, general education environments, and community organizations. The program develops anti-racist educational leaders who are reflective, asset-driven, research-informed, and who address intersecting injustices.
Responsibilities of a part-time lecturer include instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Additional duties may be assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments, including dates, times, and modality, are determined by the Department Chair under the supervision of the College Dean.
Part-time lecturers are instructional faculty with conditional appointments based on enrollment and budget. Hires are made from the applicant pool when there are instructional needs to cover coursework, influenced by enrollment patterns, faculty changes, and other factors. Initial appointments typically last one semester, with occasional academic year appointments. Appointments may be renewed based on departmental needs, funding, and performance. Often, appointments are made just prior to the semester start.
Rank and Salary
Initial rank and salary are based on professional experience and educational background, determined by the hiring department.
Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, salary ranges for these ranks are as follows:
The indicated salary ranges are based on a full-time rate (15 WTUs). Compensation for a semester is paid in six installments. To calculate a semester salary, pro-rate the full-time rate based on the units worked out of 15 WTUs. For example, a Lecturer A assigned 3 units at the minimum salary would earn: $5,507 x 3/15 = $1,101.40 per check, totaling $6,608.40 for the semester.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctorate degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Education Administration, Education Policy, Educational Leadership, or a relevant discipline related to educational praxis.
Experience in quantitative research methods, statistics, and policy analysis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior teaching and leadership/policy experience in TK-20 educational settings.
