Position Overview

FAME Academy is looking for a test prep instructor that will develop and implement a curriculum that prepares students for the verbal, quantitative and mathematical components of the ISEE and SSAT exams. While working with students, the test prep instructor will recognize how to best create a plan for catering across different subject areas. Through creating an engaging curriculum, the instructor will aid in the

development of the students test taking skills and demonstrate how to navigate questions and make educated guesses with multiple choice questions on the exams.

This is a contract position for the Summer of 2025 (six weeks from June 23 through August 1, 2025) that will require some preparation and orientation time during the month of June. This program is planning to blend instruction remotely (70%) and in-person (30%). The position could also be extended to include work on Saturdays during the school year. No Saturday work is required during the summer or holiday breaks.

Qualifications to be considered for this in-person instructional role:

  • Encouraging, thoughtful, dynamic personality
  • Bachelors or Advanced degree
  • Experience working with students in grades 7-9
  • Able to commit to Wednesdays 8:15 AM-2:15 PM
  • Knowledge of the ISEE and SSAT components (all areas or math/verbal/quantitative).
  • Knowledge of ISEE, PSAT, SAT and ACT preferred
  • Great communication skills and the ability to engage students
  • Minimum 1 year test prep teaching or tutoring experience

  • Ability to be a culturally responsive educator who knows how to leverage students' unique skills, interests, and learning styles to create a learning experience that includes and empowers students.

  • Knowledge of academics, college-prep curriculum, scheduling, program planning and development, and be able to produce and achieve program outcomes.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to troubleshoot and efficiently solve problems.

  • Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively as a member of a team.

  • Able to multitask, forge strong relationships, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.

Class Schedule

  • This is a contract position for the Summer of 2025 (six weeks from June 23, 2025, through August 1, 2025) requiring some preparation and orientation time during the month of June.

  • This position will teach 2 classes of test preparation and cover one study hall each Wednesday for 6 weeks.

  • The hours for teaching 2 classes and monitoring 1 study hall are 8:15 am to 2:15 pm on Wednesdays .

Compensation

  • $45.00 hourly - minimum of 18 hours.
