The Assistant to the Director and Chief Curator & Business Operations Coordinator of the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts provides support to the director and assumes responsibility for the coordination of budgetary and human resources functions as well as the day-to-day office operations for the Museum. Primary Duties & Responsibilities include managing calendar and meetings, preparing correspondence, managing Director’s Advisory Committee, maintaining key institutional documents, completing expense reports, managing institutional surveys, coordinating travel and logistics, leading all-staff meetings, acting as project coordinator for museum-wide initiatives, overseeing financial administration including managing a $6 million operating budget, reporting finances for grants, reviewing expenses, tracking exhibition expenses, monitoring gifts and payments, liaising with vendors, assisting payroll budgets, completing annual budget planning, coordinating human resources including job searches and onboarding, performing daily administrative tasks such as answering phones and sorting mail, leading data collection for exhibitions, establishing administrative workflows, and acting as a resource for staff. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with 5 years of administration and office support experience. Preferred qualifications include an MA in art history or humanities-related field, 3 years of administrative and financial management experience, familiarity with cultural institutions and higher education, and project management systems. Critical skills include financial management experience, excellent communication and organizational skills, ability to work self-directed, and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. The position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (2 days remote/3 days in office) after 6 months of employment.
