This position is at our Natural Formulas Manufacturing Division which is located in Hayward, California.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Directs the activities of the Purchasing team including recruitment, interviewing, training and development of purchasing personnel. Oversees all purchasing activities to support the plant as well as developing and coordinating outside contract manufacturers/packers, ensuring all performance and quality standards are being met.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Coordinates with the outside contractors and Natural Formulas purchasing / product supply teams to ensure products are being produced in a timely manner according to all established standards for quality, potency, cost, etc.
2. Oversee and coordinate the procurement of all necessary materials and supplies as requested to support the activities within the facility.
3. Oversees and coordinates the activities between the buyers and planning.
4. Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, development, and training of purchasing personnel.
5. Oversee the coordination of the SIDI (Standardized Information on Dietary Ingredients) program with the SIDI Document Coordinator.
6. Initiates purchasing policy for the guidance of personnel in their dealings with vendors and all departments within the organization.
7. Actively participates in meetings.
8. Initiates and administers purchasing personnel development. Motivates purchasing personnel to work to the best of their ability in a team environment.
9. Analyzes market and delivery conditions; makes recommendations and decisions to ensure the needs of the organization are adequately met.
10. Oversees the review of purchasing requisitions and authorizes purchase orders and purchase order changes.
11. Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts for conformance to company policy within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
12. Establishes Non-disclosure and Product Quality Agreements with Contract Manufacturers, specifically outlining responsibilities of both parties. Keeps these agreements relevant and up to date.
13. Proficient high-level understanding of ERP/MRP systems (SAGE X3 software suite). 
14. Participates in supplier / sub-contractor qualification procedures including evaluations and annual reviews to ensure suppliers / sub-contractors are qualified to produce products for our customers.
15. Ensures corrective action is taken on unacceptable goods or services received as required.
16. Interfaces with all departments in the organization.
17. Travel required, on an as-needed basis.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; and seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experienced with ERP/MRP systems required. Experience with SAGE X3 software suite a plus.
• Strong negotiation skills
• Sense of urgency, well organized and ability to manage and motivate a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Must be proficient in MS Excel.
