• Related naval or shipyard work experience
• Apprenticeship program
Essential Duties
• Fitting steel in all positions for the following types of projects: Tanks, structural & plate steel in all positions for hull replacement (up to ¾” steel)
• Selection and setup of appropriate welding equipment and methods based on project requirements
• Welding project prep, including workspace and material planning, moving heavy material with forklifts, grinding, fixturing, measuring, etc.
• Testing and inspecting welded surfaces for flaws
• Cutting steel using plasma, oxy acetylene, propane and other cutting methods
• Maintaining equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
Minimum Qualifications
• 2+ years fitting experience with steel
• Competency in the following in all positions: MIG and SMAW (stick)
• Additional consideration will be given to candidates with: Professional certifications, Successful completion of an apprenticeship or General Mechanic Aptitude
• Aluminum experience a plus
• Drug Screen
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, & climb
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs
Conley Marine Services was formed in 2016 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Conley & Associates, Inc. for the purpose of providing regulatory compliance services, primarily Subchapter M for the tug and barge industry. It has expand to include a Shipyard located in the Harvey Canal whose customer base is primarily the inland river tugboat community.
Building on over 30 years of experience in the federal defense small craft and tugboat industry, Conley & Associates has lived and breathed compliance on a daily basis, resulting in the creation of a compliance division, Conley Marine Services, to utilize this regulatory expertise and experience in the commercial marine industry. Conley Marine Services provides Subchapter M compliance support including, but not limited to, TSMS Manual and Document Development , Gap Analysis of shipboard and shore side operations, implementation and change management for the tug and tow boat sector of the commercial marine industry.
