Where is the work:
\nThis position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week.
\n\n
This Design Engineer II position includes responsibility for designing air cooled and water cooled chillers within Trane’s Arctic product line. This role will engineer-to-order semi-custom Trane Commercial HVAC equipment given customer requirements and special selections. They will see their designs through production.
\n What you will do: \n\n
· Support sales order attainment by developing commercial chiller product configurations that deliver on customers’ requirements with the best efficiency and life cycle cost.
\n· Conduct mechanical design work to assure design integrity of chillers under multiple product development projects.
\n· Produce designs and documentation utilizing computer design and product life cycle management systems.
\n· Working knowledge and experience in assigned areas; change control, bill of material, product definition & selection, machine design, castings, fabrication, sheet metal, GD&T and tolerance analysis, electrical, electronics, heat transfer, piping and welding.
\n· Actively engage in cross-functional problem solving to support field and manufacturing issues with a diverse group of people.
\n· Contribute to project teams consisting of cross-functional experts by applying the structured product development process.
\n· Overnight travel (5%)

What you will bring:
\n\n
· A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent discipline preferred and at least 4 years of engineering experience with a manufacturing organization is required.
\n· Knowledge of designing equipment, drafting and Computer Aided Design (CAD).
\n· Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
\n· Ability to assess and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and industry/government standards.
\n· Maintain competency level of computer aided graphic system and other applications through company provided training, and other self-directed methods.
\n· Must be proficient in problem solving, HVAC/R fundamentals, and project management.
\n· Design or application experience with HVAC products, thermodynamic computations, pressure vessel design, compressor, motor, controls or heat transfer technologies is a plus.
\n· Understanding of value engineering and design for manufacturability.

Compensation:
\nBase Pay Range: $82,000 - $100,000
\n\n
Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
