Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Manager, Electrical and Controls Engineering to lead our electrical and controls engineering team in New Berlin, WI. This role will oversee the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and control solutions for our industrial product manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, proven leadership skills, and a passion for driving innovation in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical and controls engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Project Oversight: Manage the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems, control systems, and automation solutions for industrial manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance on electrical system architecture, PLC programming, HMI development, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols.
  • Process Optimization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, mechanical engineering, and quality) to improve production efficiency, reliability, and safety through advanced control systems.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure all electrical and control systems comply with industry standards, safety regulations (e.g., NFPA, UL, OSHA), and customer specifications.
  • Innovation & Strategy: Drive innovation by identifying and implementing new technologies, such as IoT, Industry 4.0, and advanced automation, to enhance product quality and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Develop and manage departmental budgets, allocate resources effectively, and oversee project timelines to meet business objectives.
  • Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to source components, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless integration of systems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to reduce downtime, improve system reliability, and implement lean manufacturing principles in electrical and controls processes.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • Experience:
  • 8+ years of experience in electrical and controls engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Proven experience in industrial manufacturing environments, preferably in the production of industrial products.
  • Strong background in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI/SCADA systems, and industrial automation.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in electrical system design, power distribution, and control panel design.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus).
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies, IoT, and data acquisition systems.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate technical teams, manage complex projects, and drive results in a manufacturing setting.
  • Certifications: PE (Professional Engineer) license, PMP, or similar certifications are a plus.
  • Other:
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is preferred.

Work Environment:

  • This role is based in New Berlin, WI, at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
  • Occasional travel may be required to visit suppliers, customers, or other company sites.
